Nurse Jailed in Sexual Attacks on 2 Patients

A nurse was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of sexually assaulting two emergency room patients in February at Brea Community Hospital.
Sgt. Jack Conklin said Michael Thomas Riddick, 47, of Corona surrendered at the Brea Police Department. He had been under investigation for several months after two women reported having been assaulted while awaiting treatment at the hospital.
The alleged attacks took place Feb. 7 and 17. The women told police that the attacker fondled their breasts while they were in examination rooms.
Riddick, a licensed vocational nurse, had been assigned to the patients, Conklin said. He is not an employee of the hospital, but was assigned to work in the emergency room through a temporary nurses agency.
“The fact he’s not an employee of the hospital ... leads us to believe that there may be additional victims from other hospitals where he might have been assigned,” Conklin said.
Riddick was booked into Orange County Jail on $250,000 bail. Conklin asked that anyone with information about these or similar incidents call (714) 990-7625.
