Gill Leaving California

Michael Gill, the nation’s leading owner in wins in 2003, is leaving California.
The two dozen-plus horses he had at Hollywood Park are being sent to Maryland, where they will be dispersed among some of his trainers.
Gill had limited success on the Southern California circuit, which he joined late last year.
Deeliteful Topper, who finished fourth at 12-1 in the second race Wednesday at Hollywood Park, was Gill’s final runner in the state.
Gill had 18 winners in 153 starters with trainer Nick Canani.

Trainer Craig Robertson, who has won with 24 of 51 starters this year, is scheduled to start two horses tonight in the seventh, a $16,000 claimer for fillies and mares at six furlongs.
Robertson, who has won with his first three runners at Hollywood Park, entered Shes a Freebie, who beat $12,500 claimers at 12-1 on April 28, and Legal Emigrant, a recent $12,500 claim, in a race that attracted six others.
Race of the day: Intrinsic Worth, who has won two in a row for trainer Mike Stidham, is among six 3-year-olds scheduled to go six furlongs in the $38,000 Shecky Greene Handicap, the opening day feature race at Arlington Park.
One for the road: In the eighth at Churchill Downs, a $47,900 allowance at seven furlongs, Home Court makes her first start since she broke her maiden last Aug. 15 in her bow at Saratoga.
Brice Blanc will ride the impeccably bred filly. She’s by Storm Cat out of the multiple-stakes winning mare Jewel Princess.
Exotically speaking: A pick four using Western Hemisphere in the fifth, Me Moe You Curly, Crowded Room and Nut Lovin in the sixth, Miss Cyprus, Senfully Easy and Legal Emigrant in the seventh and Contribute and Thunder Dunder in the eighth.
Winners: Previous day/meet total: 1/36. Money: Previous day/meet total: $3.80/$198.40. Total money bet: $292.
