Police Suspect Boy, 3, Who Died Was Beaten

A 3-year-old boy, who authorities suspect was beaten, died Sunday at Childrens Hospital Los Angeles. Lt. Ken Alva of the El Monte Police Department said police considered the death suspicious and called homicide detectives from the county Sheriff’s Department.
Deputy Josie Woolum, a Sheriff’s Department spokesperson, said that detectives were notified Saturday that the boy was near death. She did not know the nature of the injuries. No arrests had been made in the case Sunday.
