Salmon Given a Painkiller

Tim Salmon, on the disabled list because of an inflamed left knee, received a cortisone injection Monday. He will be inactive for three days or so and hopes to resume a minor league assignment this weekend.... Yankee catcher Jorge Posada, who sat out four games after a throw by the Angels’ Alfredo Amezaga broke his nose Wednesday, is expected to play tonight. But the Yankees may be without first baseman Jason Giambi, listed as day to day because of lower back spasms.
