Petco Posts 42% Rise in Net Income

Petco Animal Supplies Inc. posted a 42% jump in net income, helped by new store openings and sales of more profitable pet products and services.
San Diego-based Petco said net income increased to $15.8 million, or 27 cents a share, from $11.1 million, or 19 cents, a year earlier. Net sales rose 14% to $425.9 million.
Petco shares rose 39 cents to $28.53 on Nasdaq.
