* Colin Timmons, Ventura Buena: Had a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning for a 7-5 Southern Section Division II first-round victory over Ontario Colony.

* A.J. Gasperino, Glendora: Drove in a run and scored the other in a 2-1 upset of fourth-seeded Riverside Poly in a Southern Section Division I first-round game.

* Trevor Plouffe, Encino Crespi: Pitched a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts and scored the only run on an error in a 1-0 Division III victory over Torrance.

SOFTBALL

* Jessica Runge and Lisa Geer, Anaheim Canyon: Runge had a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning and Geer pitched a four-hitter with 10 strikeouts in a 3-1 Division II victory over Glendora.

* Shelly Madick and Jennifer Gal, North Hollywood Harvard-Westlake: Madick pitched her second no-hitter and sixth shutout and had a solo home run and Gal had a two-run single in a 5-0 Division IV victory over Palos Verdes.
