Commonwealth Lifts Suspension of Pakistan

The Commonwealth said it was lifting its suspension of Pakistan from the 53-member organization because the country had made progress on democratic reforms.
The decision ends a 4 1/2-year suspension imposed after President Pervez Musharraf seized power in a coup. But the Commonwealth said after a meeting of foreign ministers and diplomats that it expected Musharraf to fulfill a pledge to stand down as army chief this year.
