An Islamic civil liberties group Saturday called on local and federal authorities to investigate an arson attack on pro-Palestinian display at UC Irvine as a hate crime.
The display, a small cardboard replica of the wall Israel is building in and around the West Bank, was torched last week, the Council on American-Islamic Relations said Saturday.
Muslim and Arab students should feel safe in exercising their 1st Amendment rights,” said Ra’id Faraj, a spokesman for the group.
