Bobcats May Not Make Best Schoolyard Pets

Re “O.C. Elementary Is Bobcat Country,” May 22: Officials said that these cute little rascals were “not a threat to humans and no one was in danger.” Any hunter who has had experience with bobcats could share some hair-raising stories in opposition to this official declaration. Bobcats are famous for turning the tables on hunters, who then become the prey. Obviously these officials are not readers of Outdoor Life or Field and Stream. Mountain lions were no threat either, until they developed a taste for mountain bikers. Even house cats occasionally do things to people.
Alleviating the fear of wildlife is one thing. Throwing care to the wind is another.
