Re “O.C. Headlands Fight Is Revived,” May 24: Here I am standing on Strand Beach in Dana Point, and I don’t see any fence! In fact, in the 10 years I have been living in Dana Point and coming down to this beach I have never encountered restricted access. When developer Sanford Edward says he is going to open it up to the public, I believe he means he will build additional points of access across property above the beach, which is now fenced and posted with “No Trespassing” signs. Edward makes it sound as if he is providing access to a currently closed beach.
Dana Strand Beach is now and always has been accessible at the foot of the stairway and paved path maintained by the county of Orange.
