* 3M Co. said its third-quarter profit rose 17% to $775 million, or 97 cents a share, from $663 million, or 83 cents, a year earlier, missing analyst estimates by a penny. Sales rose 7.6% to $4.97 billion. 3M cut its profit forecast for the year.
