Pay-Per-View TV Screening of ‘Fahrenheit’ Is Scrubbed

Michael Moore’s anti-Bush documentary, “Fahrenheit 9/11,” likely won’t make it to television before the election after all. In Demand has canceled a Nov. 1 “Michael Moore Pre-Election Special” during which the film was to have aired.
The Fellowship Adventure Group, which is handling Moore’s documentary, is contemplating legal action maintaining the pay-per-view service violated its contract. Proceeds from the broadcast were to go to the Fallen Heroes Fund. A source close to the film’s producers said he was unaware of a suit, but “they’re keeping their options open.”
In Demand, which is owned by Time Warner, Comcast and Cox Communications, said the move was in response to “legitimate business and legal concerns,” calling any legal action “entirely baseless and groundless.”
“This is a blow,” Moore said. “Of course, I feel a bit betrayed, but we’re exploring other pre-election broadcast alternatives.”
On Friday, Moore offered to let the conservative-leaning Sinclair Broadcast Group air his documentary for free. He said he had received no response.
