Man Dies by Jumping Onto Santa Ana Freeway

A man jumped to his death Tuesday morning from an overpass of the Santa Ana Freeway, California Highway Patrol officials said.
The incident occurred about 6:30 a.m. on the northbound side of the freeway at Jeffrey Road. Traffic was backed up to the El Toro Y, CHP Officer Katrina Lundgren said.
The man’s name was withheld pending notification of relatives.
The carpool and four lanes of the freeway were closed for about 3 1/2 hours as authorities investigated, Lundgren said.
