Star of “Blood, Sweat and Heels” Daisy Lewellyn has died after a two-year battle with a rare form of liver cancer, her former employer, Essence magazine, has reported.
“Daisy Lewellyn has sadly lost her battle to cancer at age 36. As someone who was a friend, constant source of inspiration and considered a life-long member of the Essence family, we are deeply saddened by this news,” Essence posted on its website Friday afternoon.
Lewellyn, who served as the accessories editor for the magazine from 2006-07, also held editor positions at InStyle and Glamour during her career. In 2010, Lewellyn also became an author, with the publication of “Never Pay Retail Again: Shop Smart, Spend Less, & Look Your Best Ever.”
In 2014, “Blood, Sweat and Heels” debuted on Bravo, a reality television series focusing on the personal and professional lives of several New York City women. Lewellyn participated in the show for both of its two seasons.
The self-proclaimed Queen of Effortless Chic revealed in an interview with Madame Noire last year that she had Stage 3 cancer of the bile ducts in the liver. She was 34 when diagnosed and though she said the diagnosis was particularly difficult on family and friends, she was “not afraid to die.”
“I’m not afraid to go to heaven, but I would like to stay on Earth if I can. If it’s my time to go, then I can say that I had a great life,” Lewellyn said.
