Hollywood headlines: A week in review
Amid the flashy gowns, tuxes and notorious “I am an actor” intros at the Screen Actors Guild Awards, the acceptance speeches were perhaps the most memorable moments of the night. Actress Lupita Nyong’o delivered graceful lines despite her overflowing excitement; Helen Mirren unabashedly admired her trophy’s physique; and Matthew McConaughey talked about getting “feverishly drunk on [his characters’] obsessions” in a giddy ramble that ended with him talking about space travel. An irate Quentin Tarantino made it known that he prizes secrecy. “I’m very, very depressed,” the director told the Deadline website on Tuesday. “I finished a script, a first draft, and I didn’t mean to shoot it until next winter, a year from now. I gave it to six people, and apparently it’s gotten out today.” Fans don’t worry: While Tarantino has no near-future plans to revisit the western, he’s “got 10 more where that came from.” (Jerod Harris / Getty Images)

The actress of “High School Musical” fame continues to step out of her comfort zone, gaining 15 pounds, chopping off her long locks and living in a shelter without cellphone access for two weeks to embody her role as a homeless, pregnant teen. “When you’re part of something so big, people really love holding on to the idea of that person — they become attached to it, and if they see you in a different light it feels like they’ve been betrayed,” she told The Times about her roles after Disney. “But I’m 25 now, and I was 16 when I started ‘High School Musical.’ It’s been a really long time now. I’ve evolved as a human being, and with this movie, I hope people see that. But I know that I still have a lot more work to do.” (Evan Agostini / Associated Press)

But with Kimye, anything is possible, right? West has said he wants fighter jets overhead during the nuptials. (Pierre Suu / Getty Images)

Johnson in “All the Way,” a play by Pulitzer Prize-winner Robert Schenkkan. The show is scheduled to open in March. (Rob Kim / Getty Images)
