J. Cole, Janelle Monáe, the Goo Goo Dolls and TLC are among the headliners for VH1’s ambitious series of pre-Super Bowl concerts across New York, the network announced Thursday.
Late last year, the network said it had teamed with the NFL to produce six late-night concerts in the week leading up to Super Bowl.
The slate of shows will be anchored in each of New York’s five boroughs and end on Super Bowl eve with a concert in New Jersey, where the big game will be played at MetLife Stadium and soundtracked by Bruno Mars’ halftime spectacle.

Dubbed the VH1 Super Bowl Blitz, Cole will open the week with a performance at Queens College on Jan. 27.
Monáe will play Lehman College in the Bronx (Jan. 28); Fall Out Boy will set up at Brooklyn Bowl (Jan. 29); TLC is slated for the Beacon Theater in Manhattan (Jan. 30); the Goo Goo Dolls will be at the St. George Theater on Staten Island (Jan. 31) and Gavin Degraw is set for the Wellmont Theater in Montclair, N.J. (Feb. 1).
Each of the concerts will air live on the network and stream live through VH1’s mobile app. The shows will also be made available on the network’s website and app the day after each performance.
Previous pre-Super Bowl concerts organized by VH1 have featured Rihanna, Mary J. Blige, Justin Bieber, B.o.B., Gym Class Heroes and Maroon 5’s Adam Levine.
