Bill Hader lobbies for a role in ‘Star Wars’

Bill Hader has always been one of the nerdier “Saturday Night Live” alums, and he cemented that image with his appearance on “Conan” on Monday with his naked plea to be in the new “Star Wars” movies.
There’s a lot of secrecy surrounding director J.J. Abrams’ revival of the “Star Wars” franchise, including the roles the director is looking to fill. But Hader, who left “SNL” after last season, is available.
And he has very specific talents he made sure to display in case Abrams happened to be watching.

Talent 1: He can re-create Jabba the Hutt’s death scene from “Return of the Jedi” with spooky accuracy, flapping tongue and all.
Talent 2: Though he’s done it on “Conan” before, he can re-create the look and sound of a dying tauntaun as seen in “The Empire Strikes Back.”
Will there be an opening for a dying tauntaun or a dying Jabba the Hutt in the next “Star Wars” movie? Who knows? Stranger things have happened.
And if there is an opening, then it would be a crime if Bill Hader didn’t get at least one of those spots. After all, he’s been working on that Jabba the Hutt impression since age 3.
