Big rig crashes on 10 Freeway in Pomona slow eastbound commute

Two crashes involving big rigs early Tuesday morning sent at least one person to the hospital and jammed a one-mile stretch of the eastbound 10 Freeway in Pomona.
The first collision occurred about 2:14 a.m. on the eastbound 10 Freeway just west of White Avenue and involved two big rigs, with at least one jackknifing across lanes, said California Highway Patrol spokesman Alex Rubio.
“All [eastbound] lanes were blocked from approximately 2:24 a.m. until 4:25 a.m., when the carpool lane opened,” Rubio said.
The condition of the person transported to the hospital was not immediately known, he added.
The second crash occurred about a mile west of the first on the eastbound 10 Freeway just before Dudley Street at about 3:02 a.m., the CHP said.
All lanes were closed to deal with the wreckage, but the carpool lane has since reopened, officials said.
As of 5:45 a.m., traffic remained slow from the 57 Freeway as crews worked to clear the wreckage and reopen lanes, the CHP said.
