Three fires in O.C. canyon destroy two cabins, force evacuations

Three small brush fires destroyed two unoccupied cabins Wednesday evening in the Cleveland National Forest and forced evacuations, according to the Orange County Fire Authority.

Firefighters responded about 6 p.m. to multiple reports of a structure fire in Holy Jim Canyon, not far from Trabuco Canyon, Capt. Steve Concialdi said.

Concialdi said that there were three fires in total and that two cabins had been destroyed. He said no one was inside the cabins.

At least 100 firefighters were on scene as of 8:30 p.m., Concialdi said.

The fires prompted authorities to evacuate nearby residents. Live Oak Canyon and Trabuco Creek roads have also been closed.
