One dead, another injured in Angeles National Forest car crash

One person was killed and another seriously injured Saturday afternoon in a car crash in the Kagel Canyon area of the Angeles National Forest, authorities said.
The crash occurred about 2 p.m. when a Chevrolet Camaro went over the side of the road near the intersection of Kagel Canyon and Dexter Park roads, according to Los Angeles County Fire Department and the California Highway Patrol.
A sheriff’s helicopter airlifted the injured victim to a hospital for treatment, said fire Capt. Brian Jordan. The other person was found dead at the scene of the crash, Jordan said.
The California Highway Patrol is investigating the cause of the accident. Kagel Canyon is located east of San Fernando.
[Update: 9:40 p.m. The Los Angeles County coroner’s office identified the dead man as 21-year-old Alejandro Perez, of Sylmar.]
