Homicide detectives investigating after body is found inside burned Covina home

Los Angeles County sheriff’s homicide detectives were investigating Friday after a person was found dead inside a burned home in unincorporated Covina, according to a department statement.
County firefighters responded to the blaze about 2 p.m. on the 20900 block of east Mesarica Road.
After extinguishing the fire, they discovered the charred remains of an adult inside a bedroom, officlas said. The person has not been identified, and his or her gender, ethnicity and age are not yet known.
Sheriff’s arson investigators and homicide detectives are working to determine the cause of the fire, the release said.
