Red-flag warning extended for Southern California

The National Weather Service on Wednesday extended wind advisories and wildfire warnings for Southern California by at least another day.
A high-pressure system over the region is producing hot, dry and windy conditions, weather officials say. The combination contributes to extreme fire danger.
Officials have also extended high wind advisories for the region. Northeast winds will at times gust up to 60 mph in some parts of the region. The winds will create dangerous driving conditions for some drivers.
For the last few days, the Los Angeles Fire Department has increased the number of personnel and brush patrols because of the dangerous conditions.
Fire officials said they will determine at 3 p.m. whether to continue with their enhanced deployment.
The weather warnings are scheduled to expire at 6 p.m. Thursday, but officials say they may be extended again until Friday, when winds are expected to diminish and cooler conditions will begin to develop.
