Mom comes home to find sitter has tattooed her children

A Virginia mom who came home to find her two children had been tattooed by the babysitter now finds herself facing abuse charges.
The daughters of Melissa Delp, 35 -- both younger than 13 -- did not consent to the tattoos, and neither did their parents, authorities told the Roanoke Times. The ink was applied by a 20-year-old family friend while Delp was out with boyfriend Daniel Janney, 32.
It was the actions of Delp and Janney after returning home that resulted in charges against both, Maj. L.T. Guthrie of the Campbell County Sheriff’s Office told the Roanoke news outlet. They tried to remove the tattoos, which only “added more scarring,” he said.
Calls by the Los Angeles Times to the Sheriff’s Office on Monday were not answered.
Babysitter Alexander Edwards reportedly applied the tattoos with a home kit. One of the girls had her name tattooed on her shoulder, according to the local ABC affiliate, which reported that Delp and Janney tried to use a hot razor blade to remove the ink.
Edwards has been charged with abduction, malicious wounding and felony child neglect, while Delp and Janney face malicious wounding and felony child abuse charges.
