A look back at 2013

On the final day of 2013, it’s time to look back on some of my favorites stories.
There was the Bernstein High football team sending letters home to their mothers and fathers at the request of their coach and learning they were loved and appreciated, creating a teaching moment like few others.
There was Lincoln High softball player Angelica Felix trying to fulfill her dream to play for UCLA while her father pushed and pushed and pushed.
There was former Fremont High and Loyola Marymount basketball player LaRon Armstead continuing his journey toward success after overcoming so many obstacles.
There was the state track triumphs of Khalfani Muhammad of Sherman Oaks Notre Dame and Ariana Washington of Long Beach Poly.
There was the first state wrestling title for a City Section athlete, San Fernando’s Jonny Parada.
There was Servite quarterback Travis Waller showing his dedication to family and school.
There was Loyola guard Trey Mason making everyone proud of his accomplishments on and off the court.
So many stories to tell and so many great teenagers striving for success.
Happy New Year.
