Boys’ basketball: Fremont gets win over Dorsey

Sophomore guard Marquis McKinzy scored 27 points to help L.A. Fremont (18-7, 5-2) defeat Dorsey, 70-55, in a Coliseum League game on Friday night. Crenshaw defeated Manual Arts, 113-86.
In the Western League, Layon Gooden had 16 points to lead Westchester past Fairfax, 69-60. Lorne Currie scored 23 points in his season debut for the Lions. Univesity defeated Hamilton, 59-38. Darnell Bettis scored 17 points and Tre Weston 15.
In the Eastern League, South Gate defeated Roosevelt, 59-51. Mathew Pointer had 20 points and Joshua Conde added 11.
In the East Valley League, Grant defeated Chavez, 50-36. Sherman Cromartie finished with 16 points. Cesar Reyes had 17 points in Poly’s 54-37 win over Monroe.
In the West Valley League, Chris Sandifer scored 23 points and Damian Wilson 18 points with 10 assists in a 69-62 win over Chatsworth. El Camino Real defeated Granada Hills, 70-29. Evan Wardlow and Kelton Conway each had 13 points. Josh Palmer added 12 points and 12 rebounds. Cleveland defeated Birmingham, 80-76, in overtime.
