Boys’ basketball: Village Christian should know who’s No. 1 in America

Sun Valley Village Christian played Florida’s Montverde Academy on Jan. 16, losing, 96-46. Montverde was ranked No. 1 in the nation.

Now the Crusaders face unbeaten Santa Ana Mater Dei on Friday at Mater Dei. The Monarchs are ranked No. 1 by several publications.

So Coach Jon Shaw of Village Christian should be able to answer the question afterward, “Who’s better _ Montverde or Mater Dei?”

Also, Village Christian has announced that Bryan Alberts, the Crusaders’ standout point guard who has missed the entire season while recuperating from a knee injury, is scheduled to return on Tuesday. He’s headed to Gonzaga.
