Fall coaches of the year are announced

The California Coaches’ Association has announced its fall coaches of the year in the Southern Section.
In girls’ sports, the honorees are Brian Shapiro of Palos Verdes in cross country, Erin Creznic of Harvard-Westlake in field hockey, Ollie Martin of Mater Dei in golf, Mike Hoeger of Peninsula in tennis and Shawn Hunter of Whittier Christian in volleyball.
In boys’ sports, the winners are Rene Paragas of Saugus in cross country, Tony Henney of Nordhoff in football, Jon Reichardt of Mira Costa in water polo and for assistant coach Vicki Feilzer of Arroyo Grande in boys’ and girls’ tennis.
The rookie coach of the year is Scott Nielsen of Jurupa Hills for boys’ cross country.
