Update: USC has been unable to stay with UCLA or Arizona State in losses to open Pac-12 Conference play. The Trojans missed open shots in Thursday night’s 79-60 loss to Arizona State and continue to struggle at the free-throw line. However, Byron Wesley has played well. The junior swingman followed a strong effort against UCLA by scoring 20 points and taking a career-best 14 rebounds against Arizona State. Arizona is ranked No. 1 in the nation and is coming off Thursday night’s 79-75 victory over UCLA at Pauley Pavilion. The Wildcats are balanced in scoring. Junior guard Nick Johnson is averaging 16.4 points a game, freshman forward Aaron Gordon 12.3, sophomore forward Brandon Ashley 11.8 and sophomore center Kaleb Tarczewski 10.4. Last season, USC defeated Arizona at the Galen Center.
